A new Indian and Nepalise takeaway has opened in Fulwood in what used to be an award-winning Indian takeaway.

Spicy and Nice has taken over what used to be Amonbargh in Sharoe Green Lane, Fulwood.

Curry fans were left devastated in July when Amonbargh announced their closure blaming ‘complications in our lease’.

Raji Shree has taken on the takeaway and rebranded it to also include Nepalese cuisine.

He told Blog Preston: “It’s a decision that didn’t come lightly, but one that I’m truly passionate about cooking as I am chefing for twenty year which make me confident and will be an incredibly rewarding journey.

“When I heard that the previous owners of takeaway were looking to sell the business due to a management dispute, I was intrigued.

“It was clear to me that takeaway was a beloved pillar of the community, with a sterling reputation for quality and service.

“The opportunity to take the reins of such an esteemed local business was simply too good to pass up. I knew that with my passion, expertise, and vision, I could build upon takeaway’s legacy and propel it to even greater heights, while also resolving the management issues that had led the previous owners to consider selling.

“At the heart of it all, what excites me most about this new chapter is the chance to serve and enrich the community that has supported takeaway for so many years.

“I’ve always been driven by a deep sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive impact. By owning and operating this restaurant, I’ll be able to provide quality jobs, foster meaningful connections, and continue to be a reliable source of authentic, flavourful Indian and Nepali cuisine that brings people together.

“It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly, but one that fills me with immense pride and determination. I’m thrilled to embark on this journey, and I can’t wait to share my love for food, hospitality, and community with all of you. I hope you’ll join me in this exciting new chapter for the takeaway.”
