Storm Lilian blows into Preston as tree falls on Penwortham bridge

Storm Lilian has blown into Preston during the early hours of Friday (23 August) morning.

Motorists are being warned of disruption and there’s a fallen tree on the Penwortham bridge.

Neil Pickup posted a picture of the tree blocking the lane in Liverpool Road heading towards Preston from Penwortham.

There’s also reports of fallen trees in Andertons Way, Fulwood, and a fallen tree up at Scorton blocking the road through the village.

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place for strong winds in Preston and Lancashire until around 11am on Friday.

Gusts of around 50mph are being experienced in the city.

Weather conditions are due to improve as the day goes on, with sunshine expected from lunchtime onwards and wind speeds dropping to around 30mph.
