Two women have been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting – at a city retail park and a supermarket.

Preston Police said two separate incidents led to arrests between Sunday and Wednesday.

The first took place on Sunday 25 August when £300 worth of items were taken from the Tesco in Longridge Road, Ribbleton.

A 30-year-old woman from Preston was arrested during Wednesday on suspicion of theft and remains in custody.

And during Wednesday 29 August around 5pm police were called to TK Maxx at the Capitol Centre where £180 worth of handbags were reported stolen.

A 56-year-old woman from Preston was arrested on suspicion of theft. She is also in custody.
