Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN CON, has underscored the country’s dedication to fostering sustainable and innovative aviation solutions during his participation at the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) inaugural Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium.

The event, running over three days, is themed “Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Global Harmonisation and Interoperability: Challenges and Opportunities.”

A press statement issued by the SA Media and Communications to the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Tunde Moshood, revealed that Keyamo led the Nigerian delegation, showcasing the country’s commitment to pioneering advancements in aviation technology.

The symposium is an extension of ICAO’s DRONE ENABLE programme, delving into innovative concepts such as electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, vertiports, and airspace integration.

In his address, Keyamo highlighted the symposium’s importance, stating, “This symposium is timely and presents an important opportunity for Nigeria and other nations to learn from each other’s experiences as we navigate the challenges and embrace the opportunities presented by Advanced Air Mobility.”

He emphasised Nigeria’s dedication to collaborating with ICAO and other stakeholders to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally sustainable integration of these new technologies into the national aviation system.

Joining the Minister are key figures including Captain Chris Najomo, Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and representatives from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The delegation is engaging with international counterparts from countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Rwanda, and Ghana, as well as industry leaders, to exchange insights and forge new partnerships.
