Kids of the 80s will well remember the first ever Halloween Bucket Happy Meal.
McDonald’s first introduced them in 1986 with three characters.
Kids were given a choice of the McPunk’n with a traditional jack-o-lantern face, a ghostly face called McBoo, and a McGoblin.
Affectionally known as “Boo Buckets”, they were then phased out before being reintroduced in 2016 and then making a full comeback in 2022.
The buckets are used as a replacement for the standard cardboard Happy Meal box.
They can double up as a candy bucket to use for trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Launch date for the Halloween Happy Meal
McDonald’s customers will be able to get their hands on one of these special Happy Meals from October 15, 2024.
The Boo Buckets will then be available until the actual Halloween day (October 31, 2024).
However, they are only available at participating restaurants and while supplies last.
Inside the Boo Bucket
Customers can order one of these Halloween Happy Meals either in the restaurant or through the app.
Each Boo Bucket comes with three different entrée options – hamburger and four-piece or six-piece Chicken McNuggets meals.
Happy Meals also come with a side of fries or apple slices plus a drink of choice.
Cost of a Boo Bucket
There is no additional cost for the Boo Buckets but note that the bucket replaces the toy.
However, they do come with special stickers that can be used to decorate the bucket with.
Prices for a Happy Meal vary depending on store and state, they typically range from $4 to $7.
