Audi speeding down the M6 stopped with officers finding bag full of cash in footwell

A man has been arrested after a car was stopped and over £10,000 in cash was found by police.

Police stopped an Audi A8 car at the Charnock Richard services earlier this week after it was reported to have been seen being driven at high speed on the M6 southbound.

Officers searched the vehicle and approximately £13,000 in cash was found in a carrier bag in the footwell.

A 36-year-old man from Northampton was arrested on suspicion of money laundering. He has since been released on bail while police continue to investigate.

In a separate incident, police said they stopped a Ford Transit van this week and a search uncovered a large amount of suspected Class A drugs. A 39-year-old man of no fixed address and a 50-year-old man from Yardley, Birmingham were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

They are both currently in custody.
