A city centre pub will reopen with new managers and a refurbishment, its owners have insisted.

The Stanley Arms has been closed since August, in what was initially billed as a temporary move. However, it remains out of use and concerns have grown over the future of the building.

Over the weekend, Blog Preston was contacted by a reader who observed two teenagers seemingly trying to break into the building on Lancaster Road.

The pub, which has endured a problematic past in recent years, was taken over by landlord James Carter earlier this year and he promised to return it to its former glory. But after around three months, the pub closed its doors again.

A Facebook post at the time said the closure was “due to unforeseen circumstances” and that “we will be back soon”.

A spokesperson for Star Bars and Pubs, which owns the venue, told Blog Preston that a new operator will be in charge when it reopens.

They said: “We are keen to reopen The Stanley Arms as soon as possible. A new operator is taking over the pub and we will undertake a major refurbishment before it reopens. We are in the process of finalising all the details of the project.

“Once these are confirmed, we will be happy to share them along with estimated dates for when the works will start and the pub will reopen.”

The spokesperson added that security measures are in place at the meantime.
