The Super Eagles of Nigeria have risen three positions in the latest FIFA men’s rankings released on Thursday. The October rankings from the world football governing body show Nigeria gaining 5.27 points, moving from 39th to 36th in the world.

In addition, the Super Eagles climbed two spots in the continental rankings, positioning the national team as the fourth-best in Africa. This change followed a 1-0 victory over Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match earlier this month.

Argentina continues to hold the top spot globally, with no changes in the top six rankings. Morocco is the highest-ranked team in Africa. Comoros saw the most significant improvement, gaining 10 positions, while Tunisia experienced the steepest decline, dropping 11 places. Botswana recorded the largest point gain, while Cape Verde suffered the most significant point loss in the latest rankings.

In the women’s rankings, the Super Falcons remain at 36th place worldwide and continue to lead in Africa. The next FIFA rankings are scheduled for release on November 28, 2024.
