A caravan park in a rural NSW town has become the scene of a homicide investigation after a woman's body was found in a tent and a man covered in blood was arrested.
A 29-year-old man was arrested this morning after the woman's body was found at a Gunnedah Tourist Caravan Park on Henry Street in Gunnedah, in the state's central north, at 8.20am today.
Chief Inspector Michael Wurth said police were met at the property by a man covered in blood, with the woman's body located in a tent shortly after.

A knife was found at the scene and was seized.
There was an initial commotion at the property which led to police being called, Wurth said.

The woman is believed to be aged in her 50s.

Wurth said the man has been living at the caravan park for two weeks, while the woman lives in a home in Gunnedah.
The man has been taken to Gunnedah Police Station, where he is assisting police.
Gunnedah has a population of just over 13,000 people and is about 75km from Tamworth.
No charges have been laid yet.
The Homicide Squad has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
