A knitted post box topper as part of the Broughton Halloween trail has disappeared.

‘Pumpkin Postman’ was adorning the top of the post box in the village but was no longer there during Friday 25 October.

Broughton in Amounderness Parish Council is appealing for the safe return of the knitted figures.

The clerk of the Parish Council, Jess, put up a jokey post calling for the return of Pumpkin Postman.

She said: “A message to the person who has our Pumpkin Postman*

“I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don’t have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.

“If you let Pumpkin Postman go now that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.

“But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you and I will cast a spell on you.”

A post within the This Is Broughton Facebook group suggested the knitted creation had ended up in the commercial bin by the Aquatic Centre and had since been emptied.
