We’ll guide you to hidden gems that are easy on the wallet, but also dish out destinations with prices where you’ll likely do a double take – adding an extra level of consideration to your travel plans.

European bargains:
Mediterranean coasts take the crown.

Want to stretch your pounds while exploring Europe? Lisbon stands out as our best-value destination, with return flights averaging £173. It offers a delightful blend of city charm and endless beaches to boot. With nearly a third of the Mediterranean coastline, Spain and Italy are also topping our radar for budget-friendly summer getaways. These countries offer several spots that combine culture with easy access to gorgeous beaches. For a change of pace, Albania is making its mark this summer again. You’ll find plenty of sunshine and beaches that can compete with the Caribbean without the hefty price tag – for flights and hotels.

Wander far, spend less:
from Asia to the U.S.

Who says long-haul travel has to cost an arm and a leg? North Africa is making waves, with Marrakech costing as little as £240 for return flights on average and Algiers following at an average of £316. North America is also in the mix, with Toronto, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles all within budget reach. And if Asia is calling your name, Seoul and Jakarta are ready for you, with return economy flights averaging £660 and £683 respectively - just be mindful of rain and typhoon season when planning your trip.

Travel price peaks.

KAYAK's flight search data reveals many affordable options, but here it also highlights destinations where prices are on the rise. And it looks like price increases in some destinations could test your wallet next summer. These increases add an extra layer of planning and booking consideration if you’re aiming to keep your budget in the black.

Priciest destinations.

If you're thinking of a trip to Down Under, you'd better brace yourself - return flights to Brisbane, Auckland and Perth cost an average of £1,417, £1,336 and £1,270 respectively. Trips there are worth every penny, of course - if you’ve got enough of them.

Biggest price increases.

You might also want to save a bit extra for some closer escapes. Flight prices to Dublin are set to rise by 50% over the next year, while Bucharest and Lahore will see increases in flight prices of 23% and 18% respectively.

Biggest price drops.

Good news for holidaymakers - several destinations are making it easier on your budget next year, with flight prices decreasing. After a summer of sports, Paris is cooling off with a 29% drop in airfares compared to last year. But it doesn't stop there. Albania, Marrakech, Algiers and Seoul are also seeing significant price drops, with average flight prices expected to go down by 19-23% compared to 2024. Osaka is also in the mix with a 17% decrease in average flight price to £910, making it a must-visit destination - especially with the Expo in 2025.

Buzz-worthy summer destinations.

Dreaming big for 2025? Then dust off your jumbo suitcases - because Brits are apparently setting their sights on far-flung adventures in Africa, Asia, and Australia for next summer, with major jumps in flight searches compared to last year. See which trending hotspots are catching British travellers’ attention.

Year-over-year data is based on the comparison to the same search and travel periods in the previous years

Destination lists are based on an analysis of the destinations with the most roundtrip economy flight searches on KAYAK.co.uk and associated brands. Average return economy flight prices, year-over-year percentage comparisons over search volume and prices are calculated for the destinations.

‘Best-value destinations’ are defined as destinations with our lowest average return economy flight prices, while ‘Most expensive destinations’ are destinations with our highest average return economy flight prices.

‘Biggest price drops' are destinations with the biggest year-over-year decreases in return economy flight prices and ‘Biggest price increases' are destinations with the biggest year-over-year increases in return economy flight prices.

‘Trending destinations’ is based on the destinations with the biggest year-over-year increase in search volume for return economy flights.

Destination exclusions may have been applied in cases of insufficient data or according to the official travel advisory at the time when the data analysis was conducted.

Savings percentages are based on the median savings found for the same flight, for economy flight comparisons, when a cheaper price was identified for a valid itinerary screenshot uploaded to the KAYAK PriceCheck in the app with minimum required info.
