The NFL icon, who scored 156 career touchdowns and went to the Pro Bowl six times, revealed last week he had a six-hour surgery and a week-long stay in hospital.

He is now home and appeared on social media last week, aided by a cane, to thank “prayer warriors” for their support.

Moss said: “Your boy is a cancer survivor.

“I didn’t think I would ever be in a position like this, as healthy as I thought I was,.

“All the prayers, the well wishes, I really felt that, my family felt that.”

Moss will now undergo chemotherapy.

In a brilliant 30-12 Vikings win over the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football – where Moss’ former team-mates Jake Reed and Cris Carter also appeared on the field holding a Moss jersey – Jefferson paid homage to one of the greatest wide receivers to play the game.

After scoring his seventh touchdown of the season, Jefferson put his fingers into a heart shape and shouted into the camera: “We love you, Randy!

“That’s for you!”

Jefferson later paid further tribute, appearing in a Moss No 84 jersey during his post-game interview.

He said: “I mean every game is a plan to get in the end zone, but I definitely wanted to give a tribute to him on one of my touchdowns.

“You know it was just great to have it done in the first quarter, and the first one.

“So definitely got to show that love to him, grateful for what he has done for this game and what he has done for me as a kid, just watching him and being a fan of him.

“Always got to show love towards him. I texted him and wished him the best of luck.

“I’ll always have him in my prayers.”
