Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least eight Palestinians, including two women and a teenager, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The attacks targeted the Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps in a series of escalating military actions.

Seven Palestinians were killed in Tulkarem, where Israeli troops and drones carried out strikes, while another was killed in Nur Shams. Among those killed in Tulkarem were two women—Khawla Ali Abdullah Abdo, 53, and Bara Khalid Hussein, 30—and 18-year-old Fathi Saeed Salem Obaid. The Health Ministry reported that Obaid was shot in the chest and abdomen, while the women reportedly died in drone attacks.

In Nur Shams, Mahmoud Muhammad Khaled Amar was fatally shot by Israeli soldiers. His body was later discovered in the camp’s Abu Bakr as-Siddiq Mosque neighborhood. The official Wafa news agency also reported several injuries in Nur Shams following a drone strike.

The Israeli military stated that the operation in Tulkarem was part of a “counterterrorism” initiative, during which one Palestinian was killed, 18 others were arrested, and a cache of weapons was seized. It later confirmed conducting an airstrike in Nur Shams.

Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, acknowledged the deaths of two of its members in Tulkarem. The raid also saw the injury of Colonel Ayub Kayuf, commander of Israel’s Menashe Brigade, after an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle, requiring his evacuation for medical treatment.

Military raids continued into Wednesday, with reports of further shootings and injuries. In Beit Fruik, east of Nablus, Israeli forces injured two men and a 15-year-old during a raid. In Beit Ummar, near Hebron, Israeli troops fired on a vehicle, injuring four Palestinian men, one critically.

The recent violence adds to the mounting toll in the occupied West Bank. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 968 Palestinians, including 210 children, have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers between January 2023 and November 2024.

This latest escalation highlights the intensifying cycle of violence in the region, drawing international concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
