Like many other retail giants, Sam’s Club is closing every one of its nearly 600 stores on New Year’s Day.

The warehouse retailer recognizes the federal holiday, and as 2025 arrives, employees are given time to spend with loved ones.

Sam’s Club members should also remain aware the stores will have limited hours on New Year’s Eve, December 31.

While typical business hours are from 10 AM to 8 PM local time, customers may see their Sam’s Club closing its doors by 6 PM on New Year’s Eve.

Even so, hours could differ by location and state, so it’s vital that shoppers either call their nearest Sam’s Club or double-check its adjusted holiday hours online to confirm.

Sam’s Club has a locator tool on its website for more information and easy access.

NOT ALONE

Those who are considering heading to supermarket chains like Aldi instead for their grocery needs on New Year’s Day also won’t have any luck, per Yahoo! Life.

Aldi will also be shuttering its 2,458 locations nationwide on the federal holiday.

Limited hours are also being implemented on New Year’s Eve.

While typically open from 9 AM to 8 PM, Aldi stores will close four hours early at 4 PM.

Again, this could vary by location and state, so consumers are advised to call their nearest Aldi or use its website to verify holiday hours.

While Sam’s Club and Aldi will be inaccessible on New Year’s Day, customers shouldn’t fret too much if they’re willing to head elsewhere.

Bravo Supermarkets, Dollar General, Publix, Save-A-Lot, Sprouts Farmers Market, Target, The Fresh Market, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie will all remain open on the holiday.

While some may have limited hours, others are operating as normal, so it’s still important to verify online or over the phone.

PRICING PROMISE

Sam’s Club also shocked customers recently after CEO and president Chris Nicholas confirmed that the retailer would continue to update its technology and make efforts to lower prices farther in 2025.

Despite inflation rates, Nicholas emphasized in a recent statement that the “club model” is built for affordable pricing.

According to the CEO, the cheaper Sam’s Club can make its operations, the cheaper prices will be for its customers, rather than relying on product sales for profits.

“It’s a really cool model because what it means is that you get better items and sell them cheaper, you get more engagement, and those members then renew with you, and they tell their friends, and they come and join your club,” Nicholas explained.

“This is why the club model is such a great place right now, and that’s not just in the US.”

TECH TAKEOVER

On the technology side, the popular Scan and Go feature available to members will continue to grow and adapt.

Scan and Go lets members scan product barcodes while shopping and placing items in their cart using the Sam’s Club mobile application.

After every piece of merchandise is scanned, a single barcode is generated for everything, which is then used at checkout to pay and leave quickly after an employee verifies it.

There are also the Just Go arches at some locations, which negate the employee check and automatically confirm the items as shoppers walk through them.

Nicholas said the artificial intelligence technology used for Scan and Go, and the Just Go arches will continue to be improved and used.

Sam’s Club was also left apologizing recently after a shopper was caught out by an “hours change.”

Other shoppers were rushing to get the $180 Disney deal at Sam’s Club for a limited time.
