A man from Preston has been jailed after the theft of two high-value jackets from a city centre shop.

Police were called after two jackets worth around £800 were stolen from Tessuti, on Fishergate, on Friday, 19 December.

Officers investigating the incident and later arrested and charged Gary Stock with theft from a shop.

Stock, 42, of Maudland Bank, Preston, appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Monday (23 December) where he pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.

A spokesperson for police said: “Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

“The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.”
