Part of the popular Guild Wheel path is closed after the flooding that welcomed Preston to 2025.

Significant flooding hit the area on 1 January with the areas around London Road particularly affected as the Ribble burst its banks following heavy rain overnight.

London and Victoria Road were both closed due to the flooding and the surrounding countryside will continue to be affected while repairs are completed.

The section of the Guild Wheel between London Road and Brockholes Nature Reserve is that which has been affected.

A spokesperson for Preston City Council said: “Following recent flooding, the Guild Wheel paths between London Road and Brockholes Nature Reserve are currently closed.

“Please avoid using this stretch of the path until debris is cleared and repairs are completed. We’ll share updates as soon as the paths are safe to reopen. Thank you for your cooperation!”
