Longridge and Chipping power cut affecting more than 800 homes

More than 800 properties were left without power near Longridge.

A power cut between Longridge and Chipping has seen Electricity North West engineers scrambled to an area between Beacon Fell Country Park and Chipping.

A spokesperson for the electricity network provider said 844 properties were without supply but as of Wednesday lunchtime this had reduced to 57.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “This morning at 10:37am, we received reports of a power cut affecting 844 properties in Longridge and Chipping due to a fault on the overhead electricity network.

“Utilising technology, engineers were able to remotely restore power to 787 properties in under an hour. Teams will carry out investigations on site and aim to restore power to the remaining 57 properties as quickly and as safely as possible.”

Engineers attended a site in Parsonage Lane near Longridge.
