Uncollected plastic, tins and bottles for recycling are filling the streets of Ashton-on-Ribble.
Missed bin collections over the Christmas period mean hundreds of households are now facing a month since their yellow-topped recycling bins were emptied.
Russell Baines who lives in Brookhouse Street said he was just one of many people caught up in the long wait for a bin collection.

He said: “During Wednesday 15 January we were due to have our yellow and red recycling bins emptied as promised by the timetable from the city council.
“However, despite the red bins being emptied not one single yellow lidded bin has been emptied.
“Bins have been overflowing for weeks following Christmas and we’re now closer to having answers.
“Weeks before Christmas it was black bins which were left unemptied.
“I think I speak for a lot of my neighbours when council tax is increasing and likely to go up again in April but the bin collections seem to be deteriorating with each passing month. It’s simply not good enough.”
Mr Baines said the last time their recycling bins were emptied was 18 December – leaving them nearly a month between collections.
He said he had reported the missed collections to the city council and received a reference number in response.
Collections in Ashton-on-Ribble were initially disrupted on the Friday after Christmas due to staff shortages called by sickness.
Blog Preston understands Shelley Road, Brookhouse, Inkerman Street, Delacy Street and Raglan Street, plus other surrounding roads are all affected by the delayed bin collections for glass and plastic recycling.
The affected roads sit within the Plungington ward in the Tulketh area of Ashton – of which city council leader councillor Matthew Brown is one of the councillors for along with fellow cabinet member councillor Nweeda Khan.
A Preston City Council spokesperson told Blog Preston: “These bins will have either been collected, or collected today, on the proviso that the bin has been left out by residents.
“The delay is due to issues with vehicles.”
Blog Preston has asked for clarification on what the issue is with vehicles.
In September last year, the city council launched a campaign to encourage the city’s residents to recycle and encouraging people to put the right items in the correct coloured bin.
