There are delays of over an hour on the M6 southbound after a crash.

Police were called to the scene of a crash on the M6 southbound close to junction 31 before 1.50pm this afternoon (19 January).

Emergency services stopped traffic for a period of time before closing the southbound carriageway entirely with traffic diverted via the exit and entry slip roads.

Lanes one and two have since reopened but three and four are closed.

A spokesperson for National Highways: North West said: “Delays of at least 60 minutes above normal travel times, please allow extra journey time.”

Traffic is queueing past junction 32 and towards 33 southbound due to the delays. There are also delays joining the M6 from the M55 for those hoping to head southbound.
