A demolition threatened pub in Penwortham is to see the wrecking ball swing.
For more than a decade the fate of the former Sumpter Horse Inn has been unclear – as plans to demolished the pub were previously opposed.
Work on the Sumpter, in Leyland Road, Penwortham, begins during Monday (20 January) and is likely to take up to three weeks.

The pub served its final pint in summer 2017 and has stood vacant ever since.
Following demolition a housing development is to be built on the land – as part of a wider development which includes 300 new homes and a Lidl supermarket off the nearby The Cawsey.
GBM Demolition have begun the work and say they are working to keep ‘noise and disruption to a minimum’.
Project manager Phil Shelley said: “The demolition is likely to last two three weeks.
“As a responsible company we aim to recycle everything that is removed.
“We will try to keep the noise and disruption to an absolute minimum and would like to thank the residents in advance for their patience and understanding whilst we complete these works.”
The demolition beginning has seen concerns raised by those living nearby, who posted within Penwortham Facebook groups.
One resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told Blog Preston: “Things such as water drainage, noise and the already bad access/exit onto an already busy Leyland Road is my primary concern about the demolition.”
Anyone who has concerns about the demolition work can contact GBM Demolition on 07826046958.
