Next month will see a free women’s health event in Penwortham thanks to a crowdfunded project.

The event will take place at Penwortham Community Centre on Saturday 1 February, from 9am until 1pm.

There will be free NHS health checks, yoga and fitness professionals, stop-smoking help and specialist therapists – designed to help improve health and mental health.

The day has been arranged by a group from Preston who were spurred on by the ‘total lack of sporting facilities for women’ in Kingsfold, Penwortham.

They raised just under £33,000 to help improve women’s health in the area as well as to help women in marginalised communities become fitness instructors.

Kay Johnson MBE and The Larder, a Preston-based social enterprise committed to food fairness and wellbeing, which was founded by Kay, partnered with Tribe Fitness to launch the Kingsfold Fitness Champions initiative.

For more information about the event, you can email [email protected] or call Kay on 07718 901813.
