Work has begun on the Plungington Hotel pub, known as ‘the Plungy’, in Lytham Road.

The pub is currently closed for the major refurbishment where scaffolding and work vans have been seen outside in recent weeks.

It was closed down in 2021 when it deemed to ‘no longer have a long term sustainable future’ with Admiral Taverns. A community fundraiser was held to try and save it – and followed a period of regular open and closure for the pub.

Admiral Taverns took over the Plungington Hotel in 2020.

Blog Preston approached Admiral for a comment about the plans for the refurbishment but received no comment by the time of publication.

However, it is believed the pub will be decorated throughout, with new pool tables and TV screens which will show sport.

It’s the second major pub refurbishment from Admiral in recent months in the city after the Black-a-Moor, now the Lancaster Gate in Lancaster Road, received a major revamp as well as changing its name.
