Thousands of students in Preston have been visited by the ‘No More Knives Tour’ in recent weeks.

The session combines music and powerful stories from people who have been involved in knife crime and seen first hand, the devastation it can cause.

Over 3,000 students across the city viewed the tour in a bid to equip young people with the skills and knowledge they need to say no to knives, provided by The Message Trust, and supported by the Preston Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Schools which participated in the tour included Our Lady’s Catholic High School, Cardinal Newman College, Christ the King Catholic High School and Brownedge St Mary’s Catholic High School.

As well as knife crime, the tour also looks at the signs of being groomed into County Lines and encourage the students to have open discussions.

All students who received a session were invited to a concert provided by the artists at the end of the week.

Sergeant Rach Killinger said: “Those delivering the sessions have real lived experience and use this to make it clear to our young people the dangers of carrying a knife. It’s a really powerful message which stays with the students who receive the input.

“Education is a really important part of preventing knife crime and we hope that these sessions will empower the young people and give them the confidence to think twice when it comes to carrying weapons.”
