Work has begun on a new pump track in the centre of Longridge.

As Blog Preston reported back in September last year, the track will be built within Longridge Recreation Ground, adjacent to the existing skate park and play area.

Longridge borough and town councillor Kieren Spencer said the project ‘has been years in the making’ and he was thrilled to see it come to life.

He said: “The pump track will be a fantastic addition to our town for our community, offering a fun and exciting space for people of all ages. Whether you’re on a bicycle, scooter, roller blades, skateboard, or even a wheelchair, the track is designed for everyone.

“A huge shoutout to the amazing lads at Flow Cycles for their dedication and hard work in proposing this project to Longridge Town Council and Ribble Valley Borough Council. All your efforts have not gone unnoticed; from the initial idea to the consultation and your for all your recommendations. This is a testament to what can achieved when we come together as a community.”

Flow Cycles, located in Pendle Court, off Little Lane, Longridge, is a popular cycle sales and maintenance shop whose owners have pushed to bring the pump track to the town and give children and teenagers more recreational opportunities in the area.

Cllr Spencer added: “Please note that to ensure public safety, Driver’s Walk on ‘The Rec’ will be temporarily closed from 8am to 4pm on weekdays to allow for the deliveries. An alternative route will be available nearby, and the footpath will reopen once deliveries are complete.”
