Montreal thrill seekers won’t have to travel far for their next aquatic adventure —a brand-new indoor waterpark will soon be making waves nearby.
As of February 18, the $175 to $200 million project has officially been approved for Mirabel, promising to bring a major attraction to the region. Construction is set to begin in summer 2026, with the first phase — including the waterpark and a hotel — expected to open within two years.
If this sounds familiar, that’s because it is. The Cité Mirabel project, originally announced in 2021 as MOANA Aquatics Centre, was supposed to break ground back in 2023. However, economic pressures, rising material costs, and high interest rates delayed construction. Now, developer Ray Junior Courtemanche and Investissement Ray Junior are moving forward with the long-awaited plan.

According to a press release, the approved complex will feature over 20 water attractions, including a water roller coaster and a lazy river. It will be open year-round. The site will also house two hotels, a 1,500-seat performance hall, and a 70,000-square-foot convention center with a terrace overlooking the city.
Beyond the waterpark itself, the entertainment hub will include shops for outdoor recreation, trendy restaurants, a fast-food zone, a spa, and even a multi-level parking structure designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by keeping cars shaded from the sun.
The facility is also being built with eco-conscious technology, featuring advanced water filtration systems to recycle water and cut down on consumption.
With construction finally set to kick off next summer, this long-anticipated indoor waterpark is expected to make a splash in Mirabel by 2028 — giving Montrealers a major new attraction on the outskirts of town.
