The account uploaded the video on February 4, and named 14 meals that cost $5 or less at Dollar Tree right now.

This is aimed at helping families who are struggling under the weight of rising prices in the US, and even includes a “kid-friendly favorite” meal, too.

The caption of the video reads: “This is an emergency meal plan to help families get by when money is tight I put together 14 dinners using dollar tree ingredients that are $5 or less each so hopefully this helps stretch a small grocery budget.

“If you are in this situation, please check for free school breakfast and lunch programs, local food pantries, and community resources. “They are there to help!

“There is no shame in getting help.

“This is just about getting food on the table, and I make no nutritional claims, just trying to help families in need.”

The footage shows the mom going around her local Dollar Tree and showing customers which items to buy for budget-friendly meals.

At the end, the creator said that this plan should come out to about $70 for the two weeks, which gives you some room for any extra bits.

The comments on the video were quick to express gratitude, as many said they were finding it hard to feed their families on a budget.

One person said: “I have $20 to last me until Thursday. This helps me so much with 2 kids.”

Another customer noted: “Honestly you are single-handedly changing the lives of entire families.”

A Dollar Tree employee echoed: “Dollar tree manager here! Your videos are making such a big impact, I have had customers physically show me their phone to help find them the ingredients from your TikTok’s! And I always tell them.”

Many of the meals also use the same basic ingredients, meaning you can mix and match if you are buying in bulk and use them in multiple dinners.

HARD TIMES

Many Americans have been dealing with the wave of inflation and the rising prices that go with it.

The US Sun has been reporting on some of the main items that have seen price hikes so far, such as eggs, chocolate, coffee and meat.

Costco customers have been seen standing in two separate lines if they want to buy eggs.

The TikTok account that posted the video explained that they had to wait up to 15 minutes in a special line before buying some eggs.

Those who didn’t stand in the extra long line were able to walk freely around the store, as the rest were shepherded to the dairy section.

The frustrated Costco customer arrived at the store at 9:30 am, but by 10:15 am, all of the eggs had sold out.

What are the 14 meals?

  1. Beanies & weenies with vegetables & bread – a “kid-friendly favorite”
  2. Bean and rice burritos
  3. Spaghetti with vegetables and garlic bread
  4. Chilli dogs with vegetables
  5. Fried bologna sandwiches with vegetables
  6. Cheddar broccoli rice with smoked sausage and broccoli (extra cheese optional)
  7. Cheesy taco chili
  8. Chili mac and cheese
  9. Bean and cheese tostadas
  10. Ham and cheese sandwiches with soup
  11. Pizza mac and cheese
  12. TikTok spaghetti (Million dollar spaghetti)
  13. Creamy tuna pasta with cheese
  14. Scalloped potatoes with smoked sausage and broccoli (casersole style)

Trader Joe’s customers have been spooked by rumours of chocolate prices rising, and coffee and meat products are thought to be increasing, too.

The US Sun has reported on another budget-friendly food hack that could save you money at Costco.

It involves buying a long tube of beef that is shown to work out at 17 lots of nine ounce portions, enough for plenty of meals.

When you approach the window, you are told to ask for the 10lb tube of 90% lean ground beef.

This works out at $4.60 per lb of beef.

The video goes onto show how the foodie splits up his tube and labels them with how heavy each portion is, making it easier to defrost later on.
