A Lancashire market hall has been awarded for its “outstanding” toilet facilities.

Chorley Markets, having won one award per annum for the past nine years, has won the Platinum Plus Grade, Premier League Local Authority, Washroom Technician of the Year, and Period Dignity Awards.

The 2025 awards were received following an unannounced visit by a Loo of the Year Inspector who valued the facility’s cleanliness, signage, décor, and maintenance.

Prior to the awards, the toilets, owned and operated by Chorley Council, have benefitted from a recent council investment contributing to the refurbishment of their public toilets.

Additions for the valued toilets include a hygiene bin in male toilets and the installation of a shelf and a mirror to facilitate visitors with stomas.

Councillor Danny Gee, chair of the Town Centre Team said: “As a focal point of the town, it’s important that facilities at Chorley Markets, including public toilets, remain at a high standard which is why we continue to invest, and the team work hard to maintain them.

He added that the recently refurbished toilets “create more excellent facilities” for visitors to Chorley town centre.
