Bernie Blackburn with a selection of his work at the Punk Portraits exhibition at Winckley Street Ale House
A chance meeting has led to an exhibition of punk portraits going on display at Winckley Street Ale House in Preston city centre.
After originally seeing the exhibition in Blackpool, Ale House owner Paul Yates bumped into Preston artist and photographer Bernie Blackburn who agreed it could be shown at the craft and cask beer pub.
The Punk Portraits exhibition, which runs until Sunday 1 June, features a selection of the characters who visited Rebellion Festival last year.
Paul told Blog Preston what visitors can expect: “Very colourful and large images of punks who has travelled from across the UK, plus France, Italy and the US. And one image is of the drummer from Stiff Little Fingers!
“All this whilst enjoying a craft ale – or wine or spirits – with good food handmade on site.”

Paul is keen to encourage anyone and everyone to visit Punk Portraits.
“It’s something different to do, which should bring back memories for some and enlighten others.
“Plus you’d be supporting both a local artist in Bernie Blackburn, as well as the independent family run Ale House.”
It’s not the first exhibition at the Winckley Street Ale House, and it certainly won’t be the last.
Paul explained: “As a member of Preston Photographic Society, I’ve been able to showcase our members images on a rotational basis for about over a year.
“This has been very successful with some images even being sold, although that wasn’t the original intention.
“Coming up we’ll be exhibiting more from Preston Photographic Society, and are looking for others as well…”
