FIRS Speaks On Going After Taaoma, Mr Macaroni, Other Skit Makers And Influencers Over Tax Payment
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has said it has no plans to tax skitmakers, influencers and other digital content creators.
Naija News recalls that the Special Adviser on Media to the chairman of the FIRS, Dare Adekambi, was quoted as saying that social media content creators and influencers constituted a major block of tax evaders.
He said content creators and influencers constitute a significant block of tax evaders, adding that a law in Nigeria requires everybody who earns income to pay tax.
Adekambi stressed that the FIRS would meet with content creators and influencers and make them see why they should voluntarily pay tax.
But an official of the agency who spoke to NAN anonymously on Monday, said skit makers are individuals who do not fall within the purview of the FIRS.
The FIRS official stated that the agency does not tax Personal Income Tax but only collects Company Income Tax.
He said: “FIRS does not tax Personal Income Tax; State governments do.
“FIRS collects Company Income Tax. Only those who are corporate names and earn profit of N25 million and more are required to pay tax.”

Tell Your Husband What Is Actually Happening In This Country – Emir Of Kano To Remi Tinubu
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has urged the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to prevail on President Bola Tinubu to make a positive change concerning the economic situation in the country.
He begged the First Lady to tell her husband the truth about what is happening in the country.
“Although we have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests, but your way and means is the surest way to tell the President the actual happenings in the country,” the emir told Tinubu’s wife, who was in Kano to open the faculty of law at a private university.
Speaking through an interpreter, the monarch noted that the hunger and starvation did not start with this economy, but the situation has become worse and needs urgent attention.
The emir, who spoke through an interpreter, added, “The hunger and starvation didn’t start with this government but the situation has become more alarming and needs urgent attention.”
He also urged her to tell Tinubu to address insecurity, saying, “The issue of insecurity is another serious problem we are facing. I know your government inherited it, but something more serious should be done to take care of the threats.”
Bayero also spoke on the relocation of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, and some departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to Lagos.
“We are receiving series of messages from our people. One of such messages is the much talked about relocation of CBN and FAAN to Lagos. I think the government should come out clean on this matter and talk to Nigerians in the language they would understand.
“Do more enlightenment on this matter. I for one cannot tell the actual intentions of the government. We should be made to actually understand the reasons behind the relocation of the CBN and FAAN offices to Lagos,” he added.
