Call it a music cascade – an experience that lasted for eight days saw the best of Nigerian music stars storm the Livespot X stage to entertain their fans.

The psychedelic lighting heightened the enthralling sight at the Livespot X Festival, where the audience gathered to cheer and vibe to the hit song makers who came in sequence to set the stage on lyrical fire.

Organised by Livespot360, the festival was a melting pot of generations of music artistes from the early 2000s till date. Psquare, Timaya and J.Martins brought back the flavour from the past two decades, seasoned with the sweetness of ending the long overcooked beef.

With apologies, Psquare jogged the audience’s memory with fantastic choreography, justifying their supremacy over the past decades. Songs like “Personally,” “Chop My Money”, “Do Me” were performed; while their longtime collaborator, Kaffy, joined them on stage.

The undisputed Queen of Nigerian Pop music, Tiwa Savage, paid tribute to the departed ones in 2021 accompanied by backdrop images, bringing a moment of reflection to the partying audience. It was all love when she introduced each supporting act on stage to serenade the insatiable music fans. Reekado Banks, Ayra Starr, Ameno boys are some of the acts that shared the stage with the Queen.

One of the most unforgettable moments of the festival was with Portable. For days, the online audience was relishing the viral videos of Portable’s performances with Tiwa and Wizkid. The two headliners bathed Portable with dollars when he brought his best game to the stage with his mentor, Poco Lee, alongside other backup dancers.

Olamide, the indigenous rapper who glorified street attitude through his street anthems like “Wo”, “Oya Dab”, “Durosoke”, and “First of All”, performed with a calm demeanour. The rapper who had been in the US for some time reignited the love for his fans while delivering his opening lyrical fire in the smash-hit collaborative track with Portable and Poco Lee titled ‘Zazu Zeh.’

Olamide and Wizkid went farther down memory lane with the song “Omo to Shan”, which is one of the earliest tracks in his music career.

After a successful Made in Lagos tour in the UK and the US, Wizkid returned to Lagos on the Livespot stage to thrill his fans. Wizkid’s fans lit up the venue with a swarm of phone lights, replicating what his international audiences often do to symbolise their love.

Wizkid- with his dollar splash- proved to be a ‘big brother’ to Portable, whose hit dance track “Zazu Zeh” revved up the energy at the festival. Portable is a one-man spectacle, stealing the show from the headliners with his flexible, lean frame.

For alternative music and soul music lovers, Tems was the real deal with excellent vocal performance, stunning stage aura and refreshing rhythms. Named ‘A Place Called Orange,’ her concert theme borrows from her sophomore EP titled ‘If Orange was A Place.’ Tems has scored her first Grammy nomination with her performance on Wizkid’s “Essence,” which peaked at the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. Canadian rapper Drake also featured her in “Fountains,” a slow-burning track on his recent Certified Lover Boy.

DJ Spinall made a magnificent entry on his concert day with a haze of billowing smoke effects that cleared off to reveal dancers before he took centre-stage.

Spinall emerged in the mid-2010s with a sleek mix of Afrobeats, trap and EDM. His landslide collaborations with Mr Eazi, Wizkid, Kiss Daniel and others made him stand out, along with records of international concerts he had headlined.

In all, Livespot X Festival 2021 was incomparably lit, paving the way for new voices in music while mending fences for artistes who had been torn by rivalry.
