One of the joys of Twitter – no, it does have joys – is that it gives people the opportunity to put newspaper mistakes right without having to wait for them to do it.
Well, when we say people, we mostly just mean celebrities, and this was a most enjoyable case in point, courtesy of BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker.
Here’s the Daily Mail story …
… and this is what Walker had to say about it.
Just a regular reminder that I don’t have a son called Chuck
It was a joke I made more than a decade ago about naming a kid after Chuck Norris. His name is Joe. Wikipedia is not a reliable source. pic.twitter.com/4sffYj4j5m

The Farmers' Almanac warns that winter conditions will persist from the Great Lakes to the Maritimes, including Quebec. The last week of March could even bring fresh snowfall — bad news for those needing Vitamin D, but good news for skiers holding onto winter.

MétéoMédia also suggests that the last cold snaps of the season, which usually hit around March 2, "could arrive later this year." Their models predict a split month, with a frigid first half but a potential warm-up near the end.

"Another plunge of the polar vortex will extend into our region," says meteorologist Rejean Ouimet. "This will mark the transition into March. We know how it goes — February is too short, so it borrows time from March to finish winter's work."

April

April could be a weather rollercoaster. The Farmers' Almanac predicts the month will start off with "below normal" temperatures in southern Quebec before diving into a mix of cold, sleet, and wet snow. Mid-April should bring clearer, drier days, but thunderstorms are expected in the week leading up to April 20.

The Easter long weekend should be "pleasant" temperature-wise but the month will end on a rainy note, with above-seasonal precipitation levels.

May

If you were hoping for a sunny May, you might want to lower your expectations. The Almanac suggests that the bad weather from April will stick around for the first few days before giving way to colder-than-average temperatures.

Warmer air will then bring torrential rain across the province. The following week should be clearer, but rain is likely to return around for Journée nationale des Patriotes on May 19. The good news? The final week of May is forecasted to be “pleasant,” with temperatures trending upward—though thunderstorms remain a possibility.

June

Quebecers will have to keep their umbrellas handy before summer arrives on June 20. The Farmer's Almanac forecasts a "wet and stormy" pattern, with every second week bringing rain or thunderstorms. Around June 8 to 11, some areas could even see flooding.

And in true Montreal fashion, the Canadian Grand Prix weekend could once again be a rainy one.

Of course, long-range forecasts aren’t 100% certain, so there’s always a chance for surprise sunshine. But if you were dreaming of an early, dry spring, you might want to start planning some indoor activities — just in case.
Love this?
