<img src="https://www.mtlblog.com/media-library/rain-on-a-window-overlooking-downtown-montreal.jpg?id=29624766&width=1200&height=800&coordinates=132%2C0%2C132%2C0"/><br/><br/><p>Spring may be just around the corner, but according to the latest weather forecasts, Quebec will see a slow transition into terrasse season.</p><p>Long-range forecasts from <a href="https://www.farmersalmanac.com/long-range-weather-forecast/nova-scotia-pei-new-brunswick-quebec" target="_blank">Farmers' Almanac</a> and <a href="https://www.meteomedia.com/fr/nouvelles/meteo/previsions/larrivee-spectaculaire-du-printemps-risque-de-se-faire-attendre" target="_blank">MétéoMédia</a> both predict a late arrival for warmer weather in the southern part of the province, with lingering winter conditions, plenty of rain, and even some snow in the mix.</p><p>With that in mind, here's how the next few months could look in Quebec. </p><h3>March</h3><p>While the season officially begins on March 20, it won't feel like spring right away. The Farmers' Almanac warns that winter conditions will persist from the Great Lakes to the Maritimes, including Quebec. The last week of March could even bring fresh snowfall — bad news for those needing Vitamin D, but good news for skiers holding onto winter.</p><p>MétéoMédia also suggests that the last cold snaps of the season, which usually hit around March 2, "could arrive later this year." Their models predict a split month, with a frigid first half but a potential warm-up near the end.</p><p>"Another plunge of the polar vortex will extend into our region," says meteorologist Rejean Ouimet. "This will mark the transition into March. We know how it goes — February is too short, so it borrows time from March to finish winter's work."</p><h3>April</h3><p>April could be a weather rollercoaster. The Farmers' Almanac predicts the month will start off with "below normal" temperatures in southern Quebec before diving into a mix of cold, sleet, and wet snow. Mid-April should bring clearer, drier days, but thunderstorms are expected in the week leading up to April 20.</p><p>The Easter long weekend should be "pleasant" temperature-wise but the month will end on a rainy note, with above-seasonal precipitation levels.</p><h3>May</h3><p>If you were hoping for a sunny May, you might want to lower your expectations. The Almanac suggests that the bad weather from April will stick around for the first few days before giving way to colder-than-average temperatures.</p><p>Warmer air will then bring torrential rain across the province. The following week should be clearer, but rain is likely to return around for <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/family-day-quebec-holidays" target="_blank">Journée nationale des Patriotes</a> on May 19. The good news? The final week of May is forecasted to be “pleasant,” with temperatures trending upward—though thunderstorms remain a possibility.</p><h3>June</h3><p>Quebecers will have to keep their umbrellas handy before summer arrives on June 20. The Farmer's Almanac forecasts a "wet and stormy" pattern, with every second week bringing rain or thunderstorms. Around June 8 to 11, some areas could even see flooding.</p><p>And in true Montreal fashion, the <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/tag/montreal-grand-prix" target="_blank">Canadian Grand Prix</a> weekend could once again be a rainy one.</p><p>Of course, long-range forecasts aren’t 100% certain, so there’s always a chance for surprise sunshine.
