The final funeral rite for former Transport Minister under the John Mahama administration, Dzifa Attivor, was held today.

On Saturday morning, a requiem service was held at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana at Abutia Teti.

The final rites followed a private service on the Church premises.

In attendance were former President John Dramani Mahama, Speaker Alban Bagbin, Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Peter Otokunor, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, party faithful, and sympathizers.

Mr John Mahama extolled the late Mrs Dzifa Aku Attivor, noting that she brought so much transformation to the Transportation Ministry, especially in regards to the upgrade of the Kotoka International Airport, Tema Harbour, Takoradi Airport, among many others.

He stated that she worked hard for the people and persistently lobbied for the construction of the Sokode Juapong Road.

“Daavi Dzifa was on my neck for the construction of the Sokode Juapong Road which was eventually awarded and the project started. But the NPP abandoned it and I promise you today that we will construct the road if we get back to power,” the former President pledged.

Prior to the final funeral rites, there was a file past at the forecourt of the State House, Accra on Thursday, February 17, between 6:00 am to 8:30 am. It was followed by a pre-burial service at the same venue at 9:00 am.

The late public officer was laid in state on Friday, at Shalom Chapel at Abutia Teti in the Volta Region.

Madam Attivor died in the early hours of Tuesday, November 16, after a short illness.

She is said to have been visiting the hospital for treatment for a period of time, before her demise.

She served as a Transport Minister between February 2013 and resigned in December 2015. Mrs Attivor is survived by three children and four grandchildren.
