Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is back after the COVID-19 pandemic halted the 2021 edition.
AMVCA organisers announced on Thursday, March 17, 2022, that the eighth edition would be a week-long event starting from Sunday, May 7, to Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Lagos.
Dr Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels · MultiChoice Group, who announced the schedule for this year’s edition at a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, said, “we are equally excited to announce that we will be staging a series of events over eight days starting from Sunday, May 7 leading up to the awards night.”
The curated events, according to Tejumola, will feature a celebration of fashion, technology, African culture and heritage. There will also be panel discussions, industry sessions, film screenings and competitions for young African talent in film and fashion.
This is the first time the award is introducing week-long activities since it was created in 2013 to celebrate the contribution of African filmmakers, actors and technicians to the success of the continent’s film and television industry.
