Nurses at Melbourne's Northern Hospital have had a surprise arrival: a baby born in the front seat of his parents' car.

Noah Barden couldn't wait to make his arrival into the world on Wednesday, July 6, his parents rushing to the maternity ward from their Epping home.

Ibrahim Bardan says he and wife Zee jumped in the car just before 7am after her waters broke, but minutes before they arrived, they realised Noah was in a rush.

The frantic father ran to the locked doors of the hospital, trying to raise the attention of nurses.

Medical staff quickly followed him to the car where Noah was born moments later.

Both mum and bub are doing well, with plenty of nurses coming to visit the family after hearing of Noah's speedy entry into the world.

Noah is a baby brother to the couple's older daughter, Amria.
