As E.ON becomes the latest company in the energy sector to declare record-breaking profits in the billions, more households have already fallen into fuel poverty, with at least one woman selling her electrical appliances to find the money to cover bills.
Some politicians, economists and the public have been criticising the government for failing to do something immediately to limit the ongoing damage as the price cap continues to rise.
It seems so obvious to most of us.
You don't shaft people for profits.
You ESPECIALLY don't shaft people for profits on things they need to LIVE.

Martin Lewis has said "the energy crisis is as serious as the Covid pandemic", but this is not true. The energy crisis will only impact poor people which is exactly why we don't care!

Ministers are meeting with energy company bosses to ask whether they are willing to take less profit in order to reduce bills. The main challenge will be to get the words out before they all burst out laughing at the idea.#EnoughIsEnough #CostOfLivingCrisis

Boris Johnson holding an emergency meeting with the Energy companies is about the only thing that could make everything worse

The people whining about paying £571 a month in January need to understand this is easy to pay as long as you forego food, forget about travel expenses, never buy clothing again, and cut every last little bit of joy out of your lives! Welcome to Tory Britain!

After doing nothing productive for weeks* – if you don’t count parties, holidays and photo-opportunities – Boris Johnson ramped it up a gear to ‘almost nothing‘.
*or months or years
Tweeters stopped putting up the bunting and having ‘We’re Saved’ parties just long enough to post these reactions.

Johnson: Guys.. Paupers don't want to freeze to death this winter… What are we going to do about that?
Energy bosses: How about just releasing a statement about how we are really working hard to find a solution? Then we can just enjoy champagne and caviar?

Johnson, with his reputation for a mastery of language, should think about this correction.
You can’t urge someone to ‘continue’ doing a thing they’ve never fucking done, you preposterous bellend.
It’s like saying:
“I urged Boris Johnson to continue being vaguely competent,” or, “I urged Boris Johnson to continue being a good father and a faithful husband.” https://t.co/aCt81GKLx1
