Emerging from the borderland wilds of Tsawwassen, B.C., in 1980, with a name summoning a classic fight to stop the United States from absorbing Canadian land, the band’s first-ever gig was also the night John Lennon was murdered.
“54-40 is always future thinking,” says Neil Osborne. “As a band we’re always expanding our borders — after all the name does comes from a border dispute — into what we call future history.”
Speaking of which, the band has a new album called Embassy Supreme, so expect to hear tunes off that including the title track at the Midway gig.
