Excitement is growing worldwide for the spectacular opening ceremony of the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2022, which will happen in Qatar on Sunday, November 20 2022. There has also been much speculation about the star-studded FIFA World Cup line-up of performers.

Robbie Williams, a former member of “Take That,” will take the stage to kick off the tournament in Qatar, much as he did in Russia four years prior. The main vocalist of the Korean pop band BTS, Jungkook, will also play at the Al Bayt Stadium.

FIFA has also confirmed that Nigerian singer, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, better known by his stage name, Kizz Daniel, will perform at the FIFA Fan Festival event in Doha on November 23. Also, award-winning singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is featured in the Qatar 2022 World Cup official theme song titled ‘Hayya Hayya (Better Together)’ alongside US star Trinidad Cardona and Qatari sensation Aisha. This will be played throughout the World Cup competition.

It is also expected that the WAKA WAKA singer Shakira will open the World Cup alongside Dua Lipa on the opening stage. Fans will also be treated to a performance of the song ‘Light the Sky’ by Lil Baby from the World Cup’s official soundtrack.

The World Cup is scheduled to be held from November 20 to December 18, with the participation of 32 countries. For the first time, DStv will air all 64 football matches in Pidgin English, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa commentaries on the World Cup dedicated channels. 

World Cup Central, DStv channel 202, will air the World Cup live matches in English commentary, while World Cup Naija, DStv channel 203, will air the live games in Pidgin English, Yoruba, and Hausa commentaries. 

Also, DStv Channel 204, the World Cup Fan Zone, will be a fan-dedicated channel. DStv channel 205 World Cup Select 1 will be an access package channel for 30 of the 64 matches in Pidgin English, Yoruba, Hause and Igbo commentaries. Lastly, DStv channel 206 World Cup Select 2 will be the access package channel for 30 of the 64 games in English commentary.
