The ninth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) was held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Debuted in 2013, AMVCA seeks to celebrate the contribution of African filmmakers, actors, and technicians to the success of the continent’s film and television industry.
Some Nollywood stars like Tobi Bakre, Kieke, Elozonam, and Kent Edunjobi, won their first AMVCA award at the event. While Former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season three finalist, Tobi Bakre clinched his first AMVCA for his exceptional role in the 2022 Nigerian crime-action thriller Brotherhood, Veteran actress Patience Ozokwor was awarded an Industry Merit award for her contribution to the industry over the years.
