Musician Black Sherif has his sights set on winning  ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Speaking in an interview with blogger Zionfelix, the artiste noted that although the category is packed with some good works in the year under review, he believes that his debut album which was one of the most popular albums stands a chance.

Contenders battling for the ‘Album of the Year’ award are Sarkodie’s ‘Jamz’, Gyakie’s ‘My Diary’, King Promise’s ‘5 Star’, Kwesi Authur’s ‘Son of Jacob’ and Joe Mettle’s ‘The Kados’.

His ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ would have to beat these works, which the rapper says are good in their own right, to win the award.

Black Sherif, aside from being nominated for Album of The Year, is up for ten other awards. Artiste of the Year – which many have pegged him as a high contender for – Best Hiphop Song, Best Afropop Song, Best Music Video and Best Reggae/Dancehall Song.

He released his debut album ‘The Villain I Never Was’ in October 2022 to critical acclaim. The lead single ‘Kwaku The Traveler’ had topped charts in Ghana and Nigeria. The song debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Afrobeats Songs Chart.
