"I was hanging my daughter's bed sheets out and all of a sudden just heard three shots and ran inside," one resident said.

An intact bullet was found on a pathway behind Bidwill Square, metres away from where children were playing.

Further down the pathway blood was found, which police said was from a man who was shot.

"They were extremely loud," another resident said.

"It sounded like if you were on a construction site and something fell from a fifth floor building."

It is understood the man ran to a friend's house about 100 metres away while he was hurt and bleeding.

Paramedics were called to help the young man as police searched the area for evidence.
