The National Hockey League will be hosting a free outdoor fan festival that will give fans a wide range of activities to take part in before the two Alberta rivals hit the ice outdoors on Oct. 29.
The Westjet NHL Fan Park will be open from 3-9 p.m. on Oct. 27 and from 12-6 p.m. on Oct. 28. The two-day family-fun festival will take place at Edmonton Ice District Fan Park. There will be live music, and several interactive hockey-themed experiences for fans to take part in.
Fans will even get a chance to get their picture taken with the Stanley Cup, which will be on display throughout the event.
Hockey historians, and those wanting to learn more about the history of the game can enjoy the United by Hockey Mobile Museum, a celebration of hockey’s trailblazers, changemakers and business leaders spanning across multiple underrepresented and multicultural demographics.
The 2023 Heritage Classic marks the 20-year anniversary of the first Heritage Classic outdoor game between the Oilers and Montreal Canadiens, which marked the coldest outdoor game in NHL history, when the two teams played in -19 C. The Canadiens beat the Oilers 4-3 on Nov. 22, 2003.
