Naija News looks at the top happenings making headlines on the front pages of Nigeria’s national newspapers today Thursday 19th October 2023.

The PUNCH: Only six states and the Federal Capital Territory have fully implemented the Contributory Pension Scheme as of the end of June 2023, according to the National Pension Commission. According to PenCom’s second quarter report for 2023, apart from the FCT, states fully implementing the CPS are Lagos, Osun, Kaduna, Ekiti, Edo, and Ondo.

The Nation: China yesterday pledged to pump more money into railway projects, the power sector and the digital economy in Nigeria. Chinese President Xi Jinping stated this in Beijing during a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima.


Daily Trust: Marketers have attributed the petrol scarcity in Lagos and parts of Abuja to the rise of dollars against the naira, hoarding of petrol and bad roads. Checks by our correspondents yesterday in Abuja revealed that some stations had remained shut; while the few sighted selling had increased their price to N630 per liter.
