Monday train derailment in St. Albert, traffic affected

A train derailed in the northwest area of St. Albert Monday morning causing some traffic delays for a couple hours.

St. Albert RCMP were dispatched to the area at Poundmaker Road and Vaness Road around 7 a.m. Monday, said a release from the Mounties.

Traffic was flowing freely again by 9 a.m. and emergency crews remained on scene to clean up the area.

No injuries were reported and RCMP officials didn’t confirm what caused the derailment of the train cars.
