A Brisbane mother has screamed so loudly at two intruders that it sent them scrambling away, falling as they tried to get away.

Residents have described living in fear in their own homes after balaclava-clad and armed men broke into multiple properties in broad daylight.

The pair were captured on CCTV bursting into a Paddington home wielding an axe and a crowbar shortly before midday yesterday, where a three-year-old girl and her grandmother were inside.

At 1pm, the same men were allegedly behind the wheel of a stolen Toyota Prado and attempted to break into a home in nearby Hamilton.

"Get the f— out, get the f— out now," screamed the mother, with her toddler in her arms, her shouts clearly captured by security cameras.

"I don't know if I've ever screamed like I screamed yesterday," the Hamilton resident told 9News.

"You almost forget that you've got the toddler in your arms and you instinctively go to almost run at them."

The two men ran from the house, one falling as they tried to flee the yard.

Two days earlier, the men had allegedly cased out the Hamilton home disguised in tradies' clothes.

"They clearly had a noteboard or a clipboard and were taking extensive notes – kept looking up at our house and making some more notes," the resident said of the incident, which was captured on camera.

Police believe the group hit multiple addresses in Paddington, Hamilton and Jindalee all within a two-hour window yesterday.

The alleged criminals are well known to authorities and police sources say they were out on bail at the time of these latest offences, 9News can reveal.

The Paddington victim said it's not the first time their property has been targeted.

"This is the fourth attempt that people have tried to break into our home in the past year," he said.

"My voice is shaking right now. It's really scary stuff. You're at home in your own place in broad daylight and all you want to do is protect your kids."
