Deliberate damage to so-called “improved” pavement on a Bamber Bridge road means that further work will need to be carried out.
Work had been done in June to improve the pavement surface on Collins Road.
However, residents soon pointed out that the surface of the pavement now looked a mess – with at least some of the damage looking to have been deliberate.

Lancashire County Council indicated that damage included names having been written in the surface and one resident told Blog Preston: “People might as well have been doing knee-slides in it looking at the state of it.”
However, while it was clear that the Station Road end of Collins Road – which is split in half at the junction with Poplar Avenue – had been signposted correctly, it is less clear whether any signage was in place on the Brindle Road end.
A spokesperson for Lancashire County Council told Blog Preston: “We’re aware of some damage which was caused to the pavement of Collins Road following a recent treatment to improve the surface.
“Some of the damage appears to have been deliberate, and we will be carrying out further work in the near future to improve the way it looks as far as we can.
“The pavement was coned-off, with signs warning that it was closed due to wet tar. We also use plastic tape to make it clear that people should keep off the pavement until the surfacing material has cured.”
