A man has been arrested after a woman was found with critical injuries following a suspected carjacking in northern Queensland.
The woman was discovered on Spina Court in Mighell, about 100km south of Cairns, at 4.15pm.
A short time later, a vehicle crashed on the Bruce Highway at Sandy Pocket before a man fled into the nearby area, according to police.

Police closed part of the highway as they searched for the man.
He was found and taken into custody about 6.50pm.
Residents and motorists have still been advised to avoid the area as police investigate.
A police spokesperson said there was no further threat to public safety.
