Current forecasts suggest 10 to 15 cm of snow could fall on Greater Montreal on Saturday, followed by over 20 mm of rain on Sunday and Monday.

"The atmospheric conditions are ideal for a messy weather cocktail in southern Quebec. Cold air is firmly in place to the north, while warm air is pushing up from the south," The Weather Network warns. "If the warm air manages to rise above while the cold air remains at the surface, it could result in significant amounts of freezing rain."

While it's still too early to determine the exact amounts of snow and rain, meteorologists are already warning Quebecers to brace for difficult road conditions and to stay cautious throughout the weekend.

In the meantime, you may want to retrieve your shovel and de-icing salt.

Love this?
