A man has been charged after the theft of over 30 knives and a suitcase from a shop in Preston city centre.
Officers from Lancashire Constabulary were called at around 4pm on Monday (10th June) following reports that a suitcase and 33 knives had been stolen from TJ Hughes in the Fishergate Shopping Centre.
A 41-year-old man was arrested nearby, police said.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Michael O’Reilly, 41 of Floyd Road, Preston has been charged with theft from a shop and possession of a knife in a public place.
He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Preston Magistrates Court this morning, police said.

<p>As reported by <a href="https://www.meteomedia.com/fr/nouvelles/meteo/previsions/un-gros-joueur-meteo-sous-haute-surveillance-pour-le-week-end" target="_blank">The Weather Network</a>, this weekend's storm could last from Saturday to Monday and is expected to hit the southern part of the province the hardest. Current forecasts suggest 10 to 15 cm of snow could fall on Greater Montreal on Saturday, followed by over 20 mm of rain on Sunday and Monday.</p><p>"The atmospheric conditions are ideal for a messy weather cocktail in southern Quebec. Cold air is firmly in place to the north, while warm air is pushing up from the south," The Weather Network warns.
