A bowling alley in Preston has almost reached their goal of fundraising to be able to install a defibrillator, a piece of life-saving equipment which helps those who suffer a cardiac arrest.

Red Rose Bowl based on Greenbank Street, started a fundraiser in May to raise half the money to be able to buy and install a defibrillator outside their bowling alley.

The team aim to fund the other 50% – they have raised £679 of their £850 target.

Joanne Gillies, the manager, said: “We are more than happy to pay half of the amount but would love to get the support of you, the community, to help us reach our target.

“Every penny will help and will be greatly appreciated.

“Please dig deep and help us to reach the target as soon as possible, then we can get this vital piece of equipment installed and ready for use.”

Red Rose Bowl has set up a GoFundMe page for any donations and is also collecting spare change in donation tubs in the centre. They also held a sponsored bowling session, with their Youth Bowling League raising £465 on the day.

The 24-lane bowling centre is open from 10am to 11pm on weekdays and 10am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
