Abdulrahman Mai-Kadama, the senior special assistant (SSA) to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, has resigned from his position and defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Mai-Kadama, who served as the SSA on entrepreneurship, announced his defection in Abuja after a meeting with Barau Jibrin, the deputy senate president.

Before his defection, Mai-Kadama held several prominent positions, including leading the Kwankwasiyya movement in Plateau State and heading the G-6 faction in Kano State. In a statement posted on Facebook by Jibrin, it was revealed that Mai-Kadama’s decision to join the APC was motivated by a desire to promote good governance and accelerate development.

Mai-Kadama, now referring to himself as “Mai Kadama Maliya,” also resigned from his leadership roles within the Kwankwasiyya movement in Plateau State and Kano, as well as his position as the national chairman of Kwankwasiyya Akasa A Tsare. He encouraged his political allies to follow his lead and join the APC, which he described as the only party genuinely committed to enhancing the standard of living for Nigerians.

Governor Yusuf and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a key NNPP figure, remain affiliated with the NNPP.
