A huge electrical transformer needed for a National Grid project is to be delivered to the city’s Docks.
Preston City Council says the Marina and Docks are closed to water-based vehicles from Wednesday 21 August through to Thursday 22 August (at high water).
The River Trader is heading into the Docks to pick up a large electrical transformer for the National Grid site at Penwortham.
The Docks are due to re-open on Friday 23 August if the movement of the transformer from water to land is successful.
Only the Swing Bridge will be closed, for a short period of time, when the River Trader is heading through the Docks. No other road closures are planned.

Many of the Barilla pasta products sold in Canada — including those featuring the Italian flag and Italian-language branding — were actually made in North America using North American ingredients.

The lawsuit says this could have misled customers into believing they were buying an authentic Italian product, and that kind of marketing might not fly under Quebec's consumer protection laws.
